  • Scores
    Player Scores:

Player Scores are cumulative, and are worked out based on the worth of ships, and how long the ships have been alive.

    In more detail:

Every hour, the score from each ship is worked out and added to your current score.
    The equation has the form
    (original_worth + accumulated_worth) * length_of_life

Original worth is the price of the ship, including upgrades.

Accumulated worth goes up every time you kill people or trade. More on this later.

Length of life goes up each hour, and has a maximum value of 50.

    Accumulated worth explained:

Every time you sell to a port, a percentage of the money also gets added to the worth of the ship that was carrying the material.
Every time you kill a ship, a percentage of the enemy ships' worth is added to the worth of the ship which killed it.

    Aims of the new system:

Ship selling has been a large problem for SEI in recent rounds. The new score system combats this becase you sacrifice the 50 multiplier on old ships, which severely hinders your score compared to other people.

Noob kills have also been a problem. It is the intent of this new score system to deter noob hunters, because cheap, weak ships will barely add any worth to your own, and therefore barely affect your score.

It is also designed to promote the use of strategic killings and add more dimension to the game: People with high scores means they have either been gathering a lot of money(e.g. for their clan), killing a lot of people, or they've been alive a long time.
