    Combat
When attacking or defending in SEI, your command ship and up to 9 others will participate (10 Total Ships). Your clanmates will attack or defend with you if they are in the same system, undocked with you and on the same frequency. It's important to note that the total of 10 ships still applies whether they are your ships or a clanmates. When Raiding a total of only 6 ships will participate (yours or a clanmates both). Firing order is determined by Ship AI.

Below is one example of combat in SEI, 1 ship vs 1 ship.

    Milo(Admin) -- 123:
    Attacking Eek(Admin) -- moo
123 fires a Cluster Rocket at moo destroying 100 fighters.
123 fires a Gamma Torpedo at moo destroying 46 shields.
123 fires a Gamma Torpedo at moo destroying 32 shields.
123 fires a Pea-Shooter Cannon at moo destroying 20 shields.
123 fires a Pea-Shooter Cannon at moo destroying 20 shields.

    Eek(Admin) -- moo:
    defending against Milo(Admin) -- 123
Eek attempts to fire . . . Wait I knew I forgot something! A Weapon for this slot!.

The ships in question are 1 basic Destroyer with cheap weapons (my ship, Ship name "123") versus Eek's ship, named "moo". As you can see my weapons made a large dent in his ship. He forgot or could not afford weapons for the weapon slots in his ship, so he was a sitting duck.

Combat however is rarely One on One. Here's that same basic Destroyer versus 2 decent ships.

    Milo(Admin) -- 123:
    Attacking Eek(Admin) -- die Milo
123 fires a Cluster Rocket at die Milo destroying 26 shields.
123 fires a Gamma Torpedo at die Milo destroying 35 shields.
123 fires a Gamma Torpedo at die Milo destroying 50 shields.
123 fires a Pea-Shooter Cannon at die Milo destroying 16 shields.
123 fires a Pea-Shooter Cannon at die Milo destroying 15 armor.

    Eek(Admin) -- die Milo:
    defending against Milo(Admin) -- 123
die Milo fires a Standard Disruptor at 123 destroying 58 shields.
die Milo fires a Cluster Rocket at 123 destroying 29 shields.
die Milo fires a Advanced Turret at 123 destroying 34 shields.
die Milo fires a Standard Disruptor at 123 destroying 185 armor.
die Milo fires a Standard Disruptor at 123 destroying 163 armor.

    Eek(Admin) -- test2:
    defending against Milo(Admin) -- 123
    test2 launches 1500 fighters at 123 destroying 539 armor.
test2 fires a Cluster Rocket at 123 destroying 59 armor.
test2 fires a Standard Disruptor at 123 destroying 54 armor.
    123 has been destroyed!

As you can see, Eek's ships owned my 1 ship fairly easily. Had either of us had any fighters possibly the result would have been different. This is a good example of how important upgrading your ship is and maintaining a decent fleet. Had I one more ship (even a basic one) with weapons / fighters I would have won easily. Or if I had spent more on my single ship I could've stood a better chance.

Important factors not illustrated here but introduced under the Ships section is the ability of Manueverability and AI to affect combat. AI and Man are two sides of the same coin. With just millions of credits invested in Man it's possible to make an almost invincible ship, but only if your opponent has no AI upgrades. Your most powerful ship should always have at least a few AI upgrades.

Planetary Combat is a bit different, but we have to leave a few surprises in the game and out of these help files :).

Damage Equations and Miscellaneous Information: (Ship vs Ship)

    Fighter Damage:
      1:1 fighters
      2:1 Shields
      0.5:1 Armor
    Fighter Accuracy:
    Random ((Ship AI + 80%) + 50) to 100
Fighters are extremely accurate on a ship with decent AI, they have a 50% base accuracy without AI.

    Dodge Chance vs Fighters:
    Random 1 to 100 Versus Defender Man - 10)

    Weapon Accuracy:
    Random((Weapon Damage * (Weapon Accuracy%) to Weapon Damage);

    Dodge Chance vs Weaponry:
    (Random(1-80) + (Attacker AI + 80%)) Versus Defender Man
